"Josh Moody is the single best candidate to serve as Washington’s County next County Judge."

-Jon Comstock
former Circuit Court Judge for Benton County

"Electing Josh Moody as the new Washington County Judge will not only substantially “change the mood” (as his campaign tagline suggests), but more importantly will for the first time in recent memory convert the office of County Judge into a genuine servant of the people of Washington County.

He has the requisite mix of shepherding ideas to implementation (as it did with the diversion program for high-risk youth in the Juvenile Detention Center) and business education by the University of Arkansas.  A review of his discussion of “issues” (see About Tab) likely will persuade you that his style of vision and leadership would benefit the communities of Washington County.

Of all the candidates for County Judge, Josh Moody is the person I continually run into when I am working with other community members of Northwest Arkansas to help eradicate the inequities in our society.  And while this certainly includes support for well documented reforms needed in our complex criminal justice system, it is clear he sees the role of County Judge as much more expansive than this single issue. I trust Josh when he tells me how crucial he feels that transparency by those in government should be.  He will not shroud decision-making in secret and will not only welcome but seek out citizen input – the bane of many elected officials.  I believe him when he tells me he will insist on every avenue of reform being fully explored – especially the ones identified by the $60,000 assessment the County paid regarding its criminal justice system, before supporting any expansion of the jail.  I trust Josh when he tells me that “accountability” means he will actively work to keep the doors open to the Crisis Stabilization Unit for those having mental health episodes, and when he tells me that local government can do its part to protect our environment and that he will lead that effort as County Judge.

As an attorney who regularly provides legal assistance – including serving as a mediator in disputes of every nature – for residents of Washington County, and as an advocate myself for eradicating inequities in our society (energized in significant part by my experience as a former Circuit Judge for Benton County), my hope is that you come to the same conclusion I have.  Josh Moody is the single best candidate to serve as Washington’s County next County Judge."

"Poverty, incarceration, drug abuse, mental healthcare, county roads, infrastructure, and more are issues that the County Judge must be able to manage without favoritism toward urban or rural residents."

Moody has spent life preparing as a leader.

I am a Black woman and I live on farmland in near-rural Washington County. At one time, nearly all the county’s farmland was cultivated and nurtured by African Americans in Summers, Lincoln, Cane Hill, Morrow, Strickler, Winslow, Brentwood, West Fork, Prairie Grove, Greenland, Durham, Elkins, Harris, Goshen, Spring Valley, Shady Grove, Tontitown, Elm Springs and Spring-dale. We care about all the county roads being safe for our children to cross and for us to drive on without worry. We want infrastructure upkeep and advancement throughout the county, in both rural and urban areas, free of the old-style politics.

Josh Moody wants to help families and small businesses in both urban and rural areas of Washington County. Struggling families live in the countryside and in the center of towns. As you know, poverty, incarceration, drug

abuse, mental health care, county roads, infrastructure and more are issues that the county judge must be able to manage without favoritism toward urban or rural residents.

These issues require thoughtfulness, critical thinking, a broad spectrum of experience across cultures and a focus on service to alleviate problems and build positive outcomes for the whole county. Josh Moody has these attributes and as a county resident, I want to see Josh Moody become the Washington County judge.

I can operate a big tractor and farm equipment; Josh can do this, too. If he has to learn how to operate a road grader, I’m sure he can learn that as well. I hope we all understand that operating a dump truck and filling potholes with asphalt is not really the critical skills set that we need in our county judge.

I feel assured that he and his staff will have equitable consideration for me as he will also have for my neighbors who also use the roads, whether they are hauling hay to their cattle or driving to the city for their jobs. Our quality of life in the Natural State begins at home and Washington County needs Josh Moody to change the mood from what we have had in our local government to one that improves services for all the people in the county.

It’s time to change the mood from extremism to one of civility, away from culture wars to focus on our basic infrastructure needs, emphasis on respect, and governing for the betterment of all the people. Josh Moody has been preparing to be a competent and fair leader all his life. The people of the county all deserve this opportunity. It’s time to change the mood.
